Tego dnia zaczęło się kiepsko. Niby wiedzieliśmy, gdzie są remizy, ale nie mogliśmy ich znaleźć. Przeszliśmy drogę, przy której miały gniazda dwa razy, ale szukaliśmy na złych drzewach: olchach. A one były na brzozach, wysoko, w koronie. I tak je znaleźliśmy za trzecim razem. Jedno ukończone gniazdo na jednej brzozie i dwa gniazda na drugiej. Z tych dwóch jedno było stare, zniszczone, drugie w trakcie budowy, jeszcze bez charakterystycznego bocznego korytarza. Ptak, którego obserwowaliśmy, najwyraźniej był w trakcie budowania gniazda, czasem z gniazda wystawała główka, czasem... ogonek.
English translation
It got off to a bad start. We thought we knew where the nests were, but we couldn’t find them. We walked up and down the road where the nests were supposed to be twice, but we were looking in the wrong trees: alders. They were actually in birch trees, high up in the canopy. And that’s how we found them on the third attempt. One finished nest on one birch and two nests on another. Of these two, one was old and dilapidated, the other under construction, still without the characteristic side tunnel. The bird we were observing was clearly in the process of building a nest; sometimes a little head would peek out, sometimes... a tail.
